The Wheeling Jamboree originated in 1933 as a radio broadcast and then became known World-wide especially in the Canadian maritime provinces. It is 2nd only to Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry in longevity as a broadcast stage show and revered in the Country Music Industry by many Artists and Industry professionals. The show takes place at Wheeling’s Capitol Theatre, where the show launched as a stage production after moving from the radio studios of AM Radio Station 1170 WWVA. The Jamboree is famous for introducing young talent who often become household names such as Wheeling area native Brad Paisley who played in the Jamboree staff band for 10 years.
